Now's the Time!

Our local dealer, Baron MINI, here in Kansas City has an ad in today's paper saying they have over 70 new MINIs in stock and are ready to deal on them.

I drove by their storage lot just before Xmas and I noticed they had quite a few on hand, but today I went to their website and they show 113 New and Demos in stock!

If you ever wanted a new MINI, I'm thinking now is a really good time, I'm sure the other MINI dealers also have abundant inventory available and especially between now and the 31st will be very willing to cut a good deal.

I'm gonna go look at a Clubby today, just for grins and giggles, who knows?

With the cost of labor well over $100/hr and my '03 with 65K on it, it might make sense to consider just getting a new one........

Anyone else?

That's a lot of labour @ $100/hr for the difference of a new Mini, besides 65K is nuttin.

Blue Meaney looks pretty nice IMO, how about an 06 instead.. long live 1st gen's

Well, we think what we want is a clubbie, so that means a new car.....

Drove one today and we really liked it.

Thanks for the props on the Blue Meanie, I still like it too!

JCW Clubman? I saw a PW/B one at my local dealer with the brown leather int and 17" JCW wheels........... very nice, I'm not a big fan of the R56 style but that R55 was pulling me to the dark side

They have several JCW Clubbies at Baron, but I don't know if I can be comfortable with the $36 - $39K stickers!

I'm trying to stay more around $25K.........

Edit: Using the configurator, it comes to $26,850 if I build it my way........

The dealerships are all vying for most sales. I was almost tempted to trade my '09 in for a JCW, but I'm waiting for a JCW convertible in '10 or so, I never get a first model year. Or last model year for that matter.

I just did something naughty- called the dealership to see what my 09 Cooper Clubman would trade in for a Cooper Clubman S. They invited me to swing over tomorrow to appraise my vehicle. 09 Mini Cooper Clubman with only 3 options really- NFR color, MFSW and alarm system. They said that they'll be rather aggressive but I'm thinking it won't happen. Having put in close to 1.5k in mods(quad driving lights, JCW grill, decals and a new rear sway bar), I'd probably make a huge loss even though I've only had my car for 7 weeks with 3.7k miles. :/

Since I have a JCW now I was slightly concerned that the new S would feel a little soft, but it really runs well. My car probably is just a tiny bit..........well, sharper. But I'm older now and I don't need the street racer car, just something quick and fun and the Clubman S fits that nicely. I really liked the automatic too, which is good since my clutch knee is slowly going away.

The problem for me is that out of 113 cars in inventory, they really didn't have anything that lit me up. When I saw the Blue Meaney on their lot I knew I had to buy it, nothing they have right now engendered the same response unfortunately......

Well, they did have a red Clubby JCW that I liked, but $39K? Not for me........

I ran into the same problem in Beantown (Boston that is), pretty good amount of cars, dealers willing to shake and bake but......the cars just didn't have the options I needed or had options like NAV that I didn't want. I ended up ordering my car as I wanted a specific mix of options. But it is a good time to look.

Yep, so I just went and pulled the trigger (sort of - I'll explain in a sec) on a new MINI Clubman S, ordered just the way I want it.

Lazer Blue (so I can keep the "BLUMENI" lic plate if I want to.)

No sunroof (all the one in my car did was make it hotter in the summer, I never open it, it's too noisey)

Automatic (Yes, I know it's heresy - deal with it. Plus, 0-60 is quicker with the auto!)

Cold pkg (Got to have my bun warmers!)

Zenons (can't drive at night without them)

And a couple of other ends and odds.........

The car was already on order in this color and equipment spec, mostly, and since I'm a return customer, they'll just put my name on it till it gets here. If I like it, I write the check. If I don't or I got fired in the meantime, I do nothing........

A couple of options still to be decided on in the next week or so..........cloth vs leatherette - I'm thinking the latter.

Chrome trim (various bits like around the grill and the mirror covers - it's only $250.

Color line interior - armrests and lower dash pieces in blue - again only $250

Gotta keep this economy going!

So, I'll be putting an ad up here in the marketplace for my '03 JCW

I will!

I'll negotiate the final deal next week after I've made sure I've got all the options on it I want......I don't expect to get a huge discount, but anything will help.........both me and the dealer........

Baron is getting ready to open their new MINI showroom in March, but I think my car will be here mid Feb.

Before it gets here I'll need to get a good ad up on my '03 JCW and get it and my Lexus ES 300 sold too......I'll have a littl more room in the driveway then. Plus, someone's interested in buying my XK-E, if I sell IT, then I can park in the garage again, out of the snow, rain or heat - that would be nice.....
