Do you consider the MINI a woman's car?
Being a guy who has played with cars since i was old enough to remember ..i think 1971 playing cars on my couch. I grew up loving cars from day one. I will say among the gear head/motor head crowd the Mini is stereotyped as a woman's car. (at least in America).. Gear heads always drove camaro's chevelles, Corvettes, Mustangs , AMXs, javelins ,Super birds and etc. Anything slower then a 14.00 second 1/4 mile and isnt driven by the rear wheels is a family/womans car..also 4 dr is traditionally a woman's car too.. at least a family car...
Now that i am a wannabe Mini member ... I will still stereo type the base Mini Cooper, cabrio and cabrio S, as womens cars.. The Clubman,Cooper S, and JCW are more masculine.
I am just saying If you are guy driving a base cooper(heck maybe even any) and you drive thru a small town full of drunk yahoo's you may get laughed at, beat down or a brick thrown at your car..
Sure in NY or Europe its no big deal.. totally acceptable... but sometimes small town America can be biased...
I grew up as a young yahoo.. i have matured somewhat since then..not much ..i still collect cars (diecasts) , love reading about cars, love owning and driving my old POS Jeep everyday- I actually have owned a Gremlin for over 20yrs (Not because its on jacks stuck behind my trailer in a field)
(only a car guy can appreciate such loyalty)

the Fiero GT was a guy car,,but the base Fiero was more girly thanks to Ferris buellers Day Off... Also the NISSAN PULSAR was and is a woman's car. no doubt ....

That's awesome! I knew they made MINI trucks but wonder what they're classified as. I consider that and the El Camino unique enough to deserve a category of their own. I guess we could call it a car-truck hybrid.
I think this can be all tied in with American society (where big = manly); the big 3 (only trucks and big SUVs are manly); and ignorant masses (they for the most part know nothing of the heritage of the Mini)! quote]
Yea I'll compare my "big manly" truck to your truck or suv any day. Since my wife doesn't like driving it that means it must be a manly truck and for some reason it gets more attention on the road than any other truck I've ever owned.

x uh oh x, I remember from other posts that you just hate the looks of my truck.
I figure if we can't haul it you don't need to move.

Something else that might get a chuckle out of the others here. I know a guy at work who is so gay that he wears make-up, paints his nails and is very good at making his voice sound feminine. Guess what he drives? A full size black GMC pickup with a cab!
If this doesn't shatter your stereotypes of car "genders", what will?

On the other hand, this is a golden opportunity to merge two of NAMs more famous and popular sublects: 1) is the MINI a girl/gay car? and 2) should I get a Cooper or MCS? Almost a perfect storm, seems to me!!!!!

So Both Ways?
I've finally figured the whole thing out...it was so simple I don't know why I didn't see it sooner.
If you are a girl and you own a MINI, then yes, it is a girl's car.
If you are a guy and you own a MINI, then it is a guy's car.
Took me six years but I think I finally got it!!!!!

My Justa is a woman's car. Being that I'm a woman and I own it.
Not to get all soapbox-y about it, but I get tired of people thinking that I don't know anything about cars 'cause I'm a girl. I like to drive fast, and I know enough about cars to be useful (my ex was a racecar mechanic). It just so happens that I also wear heels when I drive my car.
And for whoever said that girls don't like to mod their cars: the ex modded the Honda I had before my Cooper and it was damn hard to get rid of it.

When I put together All MINI Track Day, I tried to always have a female driving instructor. Jenny was a very attractive Blond lady that was great to have at the track. When a guy would get all out of hand, and drive way beyond what he can handle. I would call him off the track and have Jenny show him how its done. It always seemed to cool them down. HaHaHa
Seeing as I was raised by a single Mom from the age of 13 months. My wife is very capable of doing anything she wants, and I have two girls that can as well. I never underestimate the power of a woman! By the way my wife drives a 09 JCW Clubman! HaHa

Hmmm... Interesting. I never thought of this until I was cut off a few days ago. I was in Boston when an over-weight man in a Tahoe, talking on his cell phone ran a stop sign. I know few people stop at this particular sign, and I had right of way so although I stopped when I saw him coming I got close enough to let him know I had the right of way (some people would call this being a "Boston-driver") and he yelled he'd "get out and slap my out of my f-ing queer car" to which I was somewhat offended and yelled back that wasn't a very manly thing to do but I don't believe he heard me.

Sorry to say this but i talked to a random sampling of English people yesturday.. 1 female 5 males all under 33. They all agreed the Mini Cooper is a woman's car. The female said usually hairdresser's drive them.
Now i figure in America sure the mass people think it is. but i was surprised when i heard this from the Brits. The Mini seams like it would be more accepted part of their car culture. Its a frickin Icon. It is no where near the women's car the Nissan Pulsar or Honda Accord was or is. Its boxy men like or prefer boxy vehicles.
Anyhoo's I will still get one and I will just have to take them for a drive and show them the limits of no body roll.
