I am so lucky... that 7 series was a boat...

So I'm sitting waiting to turn left at a busy intersection in King of Prussia, PA this morning and I hate being the first one behind the white line, as people usually cut this turn way too close for comfort. Just as I am thinking this, a woman turns in front of a 7 series BMW while he is turning and while he avoided her his rear end starts sliding out from behind him.....and I feel him hit my car. After muttering a few choice words and smacking my steering wheel I get out of the car......and I can't figure out where he hit me.....the only damage is a scratch on the black plastic trim and abrasions on my wheel from where the corner of the front end hit it. Am I lucky or what?! *breathes sigh of relief*

Lucky? I would still be pissed.

My friend's 3 Series front bumper got swiped lightly by 2 civics one after another. Both making right turns from the middle lane while my friend was on the right. People can't drive these days.

I'm just happy it's be a new wheel and some alignment rather than body work. It never fails....no matter how cautious I try to be people will still drive like idiots.

Did that vehicle stop ? Dummy had to know he hit you.

If not, you can always file an Uninsured Motorist claim with your insurance company.

Or you could be like a woman I spoke to today after our policyholder hit her in the rear end: "it's just a small dent and a few scratches, I'm not worried about it". I wouldn't be going if she was driving an old beater. Her Toyota is only two years old.

Ps. Phillies fan ? How 'bout dem Phils ?!?!

Oh yes, he did stop, and we exchanged all the proper info. But the woman that cut him off didn't. And when he saw that I was a young female he was like, oh by the way I'm so and so. *shakes head*

Hahaha yeah....i think the city is still hungover from the Phils win!

Good... still might be a UM claim though if your insurance company and his believe the other lady was the cause of the accident.

Yeah, I be the city is still on a high from the world series. I attended game 3 (the loooooong rain delay game) and the parade.... had a GRRRRREAT time !!

Some drivers, especially of land yachts, seem to think that turn signals automatically clear traffic lanes. I guess it's some sort of "Royal We" complex.

There is defiantly a proliferation of "pinheads" on the road today. I was sitting at a red light yesterday and cars on the other side going the opposite direction were making the left hand turn on a light. My light turned green (Theirs red.) and I took off. You guessed it a car ran the red light trying to get the green. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting the guy. The thing that really irked me was that a sheriff was right behind the red light runner and he didn't do squat. The guy deserved a ticket. How many times have you seen that and the corresponding wreck that comes along with it?

"Pinheads" is all I can say.

Gratefully it's only minor damage in your case. I'm happy for you.

Pat

It sucks you got hit, but could have been worse. How bad was the damage to the wheel? I'm willing to bet if the damage to the wheel wasn't too bad, there could be a wheel repair place around you that would repair the wheel to like new conditions without having to purchase a new one. The plastic trim is definitely easy to replace cheaply. Keep us posted.

The wheel will have to be replaced. The air valve is bent, and there are some chunks out of it around the rim.

How much is that going to run you, or is insurance taking care of it?

Well insurance will take care of it as long as it is over $500. I figure between the wheel, possible tire, realignment, and plastic bumper PLUS labor cost it has to clear the $500. I sure hope so.....cause if not then I have to haggle with the other insurance company to get the money for it.

Sounds like that is your Collision deductible... $500.

If the other driver is responsible and his insurance company accepts liability, your insurance company will be able to subrogate (collect damages) from them and get your deductible back.

Do you know if his company has accepted liability, or if they feel that third car was the cause of the accident ?

I believe that they have accepted liability. Yeah, they explained that they will be able to get my deductible back. But they said that if the damage is less than my deductible that they cannot cut me the check and that Allstate will have to take it from there.

Right. If your insurance company makes no payment (because your estimate is less than your deductible), then they have no right of subrogation vs the other company. You'd have to get your money from the other company directly (should not be a problem as they have accepted liability alread).

Either way, this accident will not cost you a nickel out of your pocket.

"Not to rain on your parade, but you should definitely check your suspension linkage for that wheel, ESPECIALLY the lower control arm. They are notoriously weak, and you don't want to to break while driving!"

A friend on another Mini forum posted this in response to my thread....now I'm concerned. Any thoughts?
