Well, count me among those who...

park in the remote corners of the lot! I've only had my Mini for a month or two, and got used to its narrow body giving me lots of space on either side of the car, so idiots wouldn't scrape or ding me. But of course, seeing a nice shiny new car is too tempting for some losers.
I found a scratch from the rear quarter panel all the way to the headlamp, that just couldn't be accidental. Thankfully after buffing with a very mild polish (Zaino all-in-one, all I had) it is just barely visible and only on the top coat-a fingernail doesn't feel anything. I'll have to have a pro hit it with a buffer sometime though.
So I will no longer "ask for it" by having a nice car in the parking lot. Now they'll have to walk to an empty part of the lot to vandalize me, and we all know how lazy most people are, so hopefully the "blue meeny" will be safe.

At least it forced me to wash & polish the car with a cold in 40 degree weather

I have had mine for 2 weeks now and I am getting more exercise by walking from the far corners of the parking lots to where ever I am going - see another benefit of MINI ownership - more exercise!
