Anyone tempted to "Flip" your MINI?

With the recent surge in retail value of used MINIs (at least here in Florida) has anyone been tempted to sell your MINI to make a profit? When I was shopping for cars 6 months ago I decided on a MCS over a BMW 330i due to costs, but now the situation has reversed. Dealers are routinely selling 2003-2004 MCS similar to mine for $17k+ and individual sellers are getting 15-16k. I bought my car for 12500. All of these prices are totally unjustified which kinda makes me want to take someone to the cleaners with my MCS (even though I do love it) and go pick up a 330 for around 10k.

I'm not being a traitor, just realistic. Anyone have any thoughts? I know a 330i isn't as tossable, but it's a great car that I could live with knowing that I saved a good deal of money.

Well, I would never expect to get 22k for mine, but I still think it would easily sell for over the 12.5k that I paid for it.

I've also become a little skittish of reliability. I've already had to replace idler pulley bearing, belt tensioner, and cooling fan (all about $1100) plus the major service on it was about $550. Now I'm feeling a little slip from the clutch...not to mention the chewbaca noise every morning.

I saw someone "flip" their MINI. Don't want to go there. As sturdy as they are it was still messed up pretty badly. Protected it's owner and co-driver in the process of giving up it's own life.

A good faithful little car. It will be remembered fondly.

If you paid 12.5 for your MINI you got a great deal! I don't think too
many of them go that low. So a flip for you is probably good. Go get
your 330i and enjoy.

Joking right? Not about your experience of course, but not exactly what the
OP is asking.

I think he was kidding. I can understand how you would be confused at the joke, it was pretty weak.

Don't confuse a dealer's asking price for a used car with the price you could get selling a similar model privately. Yes, it is possible to scout around for used car bargains, and then "flip" the car for a profit, but this process has the same risks and rewards as any other business venture.
If you really want to know what you're car's worth, post it on Craigs List or Cars.com and see what kind of offers you get. Just don't accept any money orders from Nigerian royalty.
