Yes and now that I have a S and justa cooper in the family I need to start a thread and can debate with my self as to which one of those is better. I am sure others will chime in.
Long story short--it's personal preference. To each his/her own. But until you've learned both, I think you should reserve final judgement.
Agreed. I'm no where near proficient on a manual so I can't compare and make judgement on which I prefer. But I can say I don't regret buying my automatic. Maybe my next Mini will be a manual, learning to drive stick is something i've always wanted to give a try... but i'm still not convinced i'd perform better than in the automatic.
