Extended Service Contract Questions

I have read the threads on the Extended Service Contract, but still have questions.

Does anyone have the owners manual PDF for Cooper or Clubman S, I can not download via the owners network or motoring file which links to owners network. I want to know what services set forth in the owners manual could or would be covered by the Extended Service contract, like Inspection II. What is the mileage that Mini recommends belt replacements (I know the timing belt is a chain).

Do you have to purchase the Extended Service Contract when you purchase the car, or can it be done at anytime before the 36K factory Service runs out?

I am trying to figure how likely it would be that I would have to replace the clutch at 100k or 6 years. Between 36k to 100k would that most likely entail one brake job (I know this varies on how people drive). Is radiator, transmission flush recommended in 1st 100k?

Any help would be appreciated.

Extended Service contract

I just picked up my MINI & asked that same question. I was told that you can buy the extended contract anytime before the standard one expires, but the price may have gone up by then (or BMW might've eliminated the option altogether, as other car dealers have done), so if you definitely want it, I'd get it as soon as possible. Otherwise, you can take your chances & wait.
BTW: I'm still mulling over buying it myself, but since I don't put a ton of mileage on my cars, I'm not sure it'd be worth it for me...

I noticed this in the warranty booklet a couple of days ago. The 07 one says the upgrade to 4years/48k miles is available until the standard 3 year/36k miles is up. Then says "programs may change".

The 08 book says to ask the dealer about the upgrade to 6 years/100k miles.

The condition based service makes it difficult to say exactly what you're getting with the extra maintainance.

You get an oil change every year, no matter what, so you get at least an extra 3 oil changes. Brake fluids are every 2 years at least so there's at least an extra 2 brake fluid changes.

My April 08 Cooper-S is currently telling me:
State required safety inspection: 11/2009 (what's this???)
Oil 12,000 or 04/2012 (2012 doesn't sound right)
Brake fluid 4/2010
Front brakes 24,000 miles
Inspection: 26,000 miles or 4/2012
Rear brakes: 27,000

The manual also says change the sparkplugs at 60k on an S (100k for a Cooper) and auto transmission fluid at 100k.

At that rate, between 3/36 and 6/100 you'd get something like:
3-5 oil changes
2 brake fluid changes
up to 3 front brake jobs
up to 2 inspections
up to 2 rear brake jobs
Change the plugs
Change the auto transmission fluid.

You'll get most out of the extended service if you drive 36k in the first 3 years, then 64k in the last 3. You'll also get more the harder you drive it.

Some states have a required inspection every year in addition to emissions. This is supposed to be an extra reminder for people who are required to get it.

2012 is not right, it should be 04/2009, tell you SA next time you go in for service.
