bringing back a dead thread here, and maybe a little off topic, but still relative. has anyone successfully installed a turbo, on an originally supercharged mini, making it twin charged?

There were twin charging kits...
kinda worked with lots of custom work...just not much space under the hood.
The real reason the SC was kept was to allow the use of the factory ECU...
But now with standalone computers to replace the ecu, you could just install an aftermarket ecu, and a turbo...custom tune it...
But for less $$ you could get a gen2 MINI.....
Seriously.....twin charging had its day....but was simply too expensive and complex. Heck, even a few auto makers tried it....and abandoned it!
Turbo tech simply got better, and fuel economy rules favored the straight turbo as opposed to the factory twin-charge.
Simply put, if you want anything BUT a garage queen to look at and say WOW....look at that, IMO, don't try it. Nice too look, may be fun to drive a bit...but hard to make then harder to keep working!!
