A San Francisco MINI Horror - Intervention Needed

I was riding my road bike home, from my daily ride. As many of you know, I take pics of MINIs I see on my ride and post them in my thread, "How Many MINIs Did You See Today."

On the way home I saw a MINI S that is in a serious state, fatal in my view.

I don't know what is going on, but I plan to visit it during the day to investigate further.

The MINI owner appears to be driving it, see the pics where he or she used the wipers to clean the crud off the windshield. In other words, I don't think the owner is incapacitated.

MINI USA and/or NAM members need to chip in and buy back this MINI from the owner. It's appalling and as bad as abusing a pet, in my opinion.

I took some super large pics, so I'll just attach links to my server. Some are duplicate shots, but I edited each one separately so some turned out better than others. Too lazy to sort em out. You can save the ones you want.

WARNING: PREPARE TO BE SHOCKED. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLEEP TONIGHT.

PERHAPS CRIMINAL CHARGES SHOULD BE FILED.

View at your own risk. These are not safe for viewing at work because you will flip out, be mean to your co-workers and probably get fired for causing a scene.

Oh dear!! Such neglect is difficult to witness, but perhaps the owner is incapacitated, or traveling abroad, or there is some sort of explanation? I have a Jet Black MINI and can vouch for how difficult it is to keep up, but those pix are ROUGH!

Gulp, I have an AB and its very difficult to keep clean, but does he have cherries and leaves wedged between the bonnet and lower windshield? Plus are his tyres bald (edit: just checked again, nah they aren't) It would be a gorgeous Mini if it was cleaned, sigh...

i think those nature-caused mods give personality, an image of uniqueness, and character created over time to that Mini.

To each his own

They're to lazy to clean their car. You're too lazy to resize and cull your pictures. Everybody's got their thing.

I like you.

Anyway, while those images show a MINI in unspeakable condition, I will give the owner the benefit of the doubt--it really looks like it's just been parked there for a long while, claims of the windshield suggesting it has been recently driven notwithstanding. Call me naive, but I have a fundamental belief in the goodness of people.

Looks like it has been parked for an extended period of time.

But, life is too short to get upset about someone who is treating their MINI like a regular car..........To each his/her own.

That MINI is in disgraceful shape! Perhaps the owner thought the berries would hide the dent in their fender...?

Neglect is a horrible thing. Somebody here in Sacto left a brand-new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited go to rack and ruin by parking it under a tree that's filled with birds every day. They poop a lot (and it hasn't rained here in months!). So, you can imagine the mess it made. I think stuff was growing out of the accumulated bird feces. A car wash company left their business card tucked under the wiper blade. The car was eventually towed away, leaving a clean spot on the road. I figure it was a repo; the people who owned it just didn't care enough to take care of it. That or they were dead. I never saw the car again.

*GASP!* Ok...maybe he let a "friend" borrow it while on a business trip or something... *HOPE*....if it's still in that state tomorrow, you should definitely turn him in to the MINI Abuse hotline.....

That's an idea. Let your Love Shine by going there with a bucket of soap and wash it. Maybe a clean MINI will encourage the owner to keep it clean. If they come out and ask what you are doing, just let them know the NAM Fam cares, invite them to join NAM and maybe you can save one more poor soul.

I don't think Banana Gloss was developed that way. Back to the lab, Astro.

Michael, you have entirely too much time on your hands.

Wasn't the guy who had the Craigslist ad to rent out his MINI for 3 months from SF? Maybe this is the car. Poor dear.

I vote for a middle-of-the-night washing! Imagine how confused the owner would be! It might take them a second to even realize it was their vehicle!

Somebody contact the local San Francisco mini club - organize a Club event to go and clean that thing!

(that would be fun, actually...)

Hey, if the Pittsburgh group wants to try this out and is in the mood for a road trip I can give you the address of a MINI that needs a good "warshing!" It's not my MINI, really, I swear.

On the surface, I would agree with you. But I have always said, while others sleep, who knows what the hell I'm up to. One of the benefits of being able to only sleep four hours a night. E.g., see what time was this thread posted, PDT.

Oh, did I say while others sleep, who knows what the hell I'm up to?

It might be a legitimate "dirt test" and washing it might mess up the results...
