I've had Spike now exacatly one month. I wave and have been waved to. My husband now jokes that should we wave when we are not in the MINI? I'm not sure other MINI drivers would know why a Dodge truck or a Mustang would be waving at them.

 

I've noticed several other people in Minis who don't even really acknowledge you. I do think people (at least in my area) are just buying them for the gas mileage and don't "get" the culture.

 

I'm further south than you! You get waves 100% of the time? Impressive.

 

--Keep waving at other MINI owners no matter what everyone! If we keep it up, maybe the grumpy gas misers will get irritated and go out and buy Honda Fits or Toyota Yaris's and trade in their MINI's for some lucky MINI true-believers to pick up.

There's something infectiously happy about the MINI. People actually talk to and pet my car. Some of my friends who I thought were exclusively die-hard American car lovers asked me when I would introduce them to my MINI. There is something really special about all versions of the MINI. They just make people smile.

So if we're a bunch of dorks and geeks happily waving at other MINI owners...

SO BE IT!

I'd rather be happy and having fun than grumpy and un-neighborly. I'm not letting some non-wavers ruin my motoring.

They will suffer the wrath of my unrelenting waves until they submit!!!

Well you're in a Clubman - I don't wave to Clubmans.

I actually did miss a wave from one person, but it was obvious they didn't see me (they were going about 50 down a road that I was approaching at a T intersection).

Actually I've yet to even see a Clubman on the roads around me. So I can actually say that I've never waved at a Clubman driver.

 

Well, you've only had your MINI for 3 weeks, so you haven't had much time to get snubbed.

Don't worry, your 100% record will be falling like a rock soon enough!

 

We'll see. Saw three more today and all of them waved.

 

 

Going on my 5th week with the new MINI and no waves yet. But I did get a thumbs up from a young guy driving a MINI a couple of weeks ago. Does that count as half a wave? Anyway, I'm still waving at other MINI's even though my windows are tinted so dark they probably can't see me doing it.

 

My faith in humanity has been restored. I received two waves today alone

I've seen 9 MINIs today and NO WAVES. After reading several posts on NAM, I even started to wave first and still NOTHING. It's so sad... Here's hoping for better luck tomorrow...

 

I got my first wave today, actually! I saw several Minis, but was happy with the one wave I did get!

That's true around me recently. Lots of early 20 drivers around that I don't even bother now. I don't get waves back from them and they look at me like I am stupid.

I can imagine them yelling into their cellphone: "So this weird dude like omg totally waved at me and I was like omg do i know you?"
