Owners lack of NAM knowledge?
I think I will get some business cards printed up. "I just saw your MINI. I hope you are enjoying your motoring experience. If you have not joined you fellow MINI Owners online, consider signing up at www.northamericamotoring.com. It is a wonderful online site to get great tips about your MINI and interact virtually with fellow motorers"

Lotsie - I can't see the photo, but yeah! (I guess the no-brainer would have been to look for that first before posting!)
I think a lot of people have done the business card thing for their local clubs - I think it's a great idea. More professional than hand-written notes...that kinda denotes stalking, ya know?
There's a thread going on about trading customized magnetic badges, and one of the suggestions had been to leave one of them under the windshield wipers of parked MINIs (no magnets on someone else's baby!) You could customize the card with a pic of YOUR mini, or your avatar or something...

I heard about NAM from other drivers in the OL. Once I joined this group and found so much information, I've never been back to the OL. Well, except to make my payment.
I truely love this community. I've never been on a message board where everyone respects everyone else's differences and acts like adults. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to join.

Funny that the OP mentioned googling MINI and running into this board. That's exactly how I found NAM two years ago.
And not only has NAM enriched my life so much, through the local DCMM club, MOTD, good online discussions, friends I've met and some I only know through the computer, but it has also...
Cost me a fortune !!!
I probably wouldn't have done 1/4 the mods if it weren't for NAM.

I, too, stumbled across this wonderful site while googling a problem with my car. If you sneak a quick peek at my join date (Feb '07), you'll see that I was woefully lacking in the smarts to find a diamond lying on the floor in front of me. I bought the car in Feb. 02... five years! Five years of missing out on what has proven to be one of the best spots on the interweb. Gah! I'm such a doofus.
In fact, when I did not buy the '07 I ordered and began searching for an '06, my MA blamed it all on NAM. He said if I had stayed off the forum I'd have bought the car I ordered.
Of course, he was just trying to save the sale. I don't think he knew just how true his words were.
I am yet to meet a NAMer in the field. Actually, I just met my first MINI nut the other day. He was parked quite far away from his destination ...so I pulled right up along side. We got out, simultaneously said "cool car" and then talked for about 15 minutes.
It was very, very cool to talk to someone that understood what MINIs are all about. We talked about tires, wheels, detail products ...all the fun stuff.
All of the other MINI owners I have met have been civilians ...you know the type ...they look at you weird when you try to strike up a conversation and all they know about their car is the color and the gas mileage it gets.
Long live NAM. Automotively speaking ...I'd be lost without this place.
Dean.

I first decided to get a MINI, then I found NAM by a Google search on MINI information. It still happens today since I usually start a Google search before a search on NAM. On any specifc MINI topic NAM is frequently one of every top twenty results. I guess I'm becomming an enthusiast. Iv'e always admired MINIs from afar. I just used the price of gas as an excuse to finally buy one! Reality is I'm not saving any money, but it will be alot more satisfying to drive a MINI even as it depreciates than to just burn more gas in something larger or less expensive.
