i read a lot here about Penfed Credit Union. Can everybody join there or only if you are somehow associated with the military or government?

I just opened an account yesterday and I am in no way associated in any kind. It was fast and easy! You just have to pay a $20 fee [sort of like a donation] and then put in atleast a minimum of $5 for the savings and you're all set!

 

Military/Govt can open one free, the rest of us have to pay 20$ for a "National Military Family Association" account. Just look for the NMFA option on the website or ask about it if you call them. After paying the 20$ you have to put 5$ in a savings account as your membership share (standard procedure). Then you're good to go.

 

how are they with giving loans for poor credit? i already got my mini through BMW financing but wouldnt mind re-financing for a lower rate
