Has anyone experimented with using regular unleaded or plus, instead of premium? I've read a pretty interesting article on Cartalk.com that seems to indicate that it can be quite possible to skip out on premium, especially if driving conditions are more mild.

What experience have you had with this? If you don't have an R56 MCS please specify what you do have.
