[quote=postlapsaria;2201096] Guys wtf am I thinking, you only live once. I can afford it, I was just not sure if I wanted to. I got a MUCH better quote from Geico than NJ Manufacturers...who woulda thought. Sorry for the dumb post, hopefully it sparked some good conversation. PS. I'm going to drive 100 miles per day...so I'm going to be in my car a lot. I currently drive a 93 Passat [ /quote]

GASP! I can't believe that you PUT US THROUGH ALL THAT FOR NOTHING.

You should be demoted to 1st gear ...

Folks, there is no such thing as a 3 -5 day cooling off period on car deals. If you sign the papers, and drive it off the lot, you own it - period. There are some dealers who will unwind a deal after it's made, but very few.

This has been offered as fact for years, but it's simply not true. It does apply to sales in your home, where a salesman comes to your house and sells you encyclopedias or something - it has never applied to sales outside the home - where you go to a store and buy something.

Dealers are different. Not all are refundable. it depends on your location and dealership. Mine was NOT refundable.

That's too much of a generalization. As others have mentioned, some state laws dictate that deposits are fully refundable.

Here in Oregon, Rasmussen offers a full refund. And it has nothing to do with them selling the car. It's refundable when you decide not to take delivery.

The promise to refund is fully explained in the sales agreement. The prospective buyer is under no commitment to purchase.

I waited months for my order and when it came in I changed my mind. They made me wait until they sold it, but I got a full refund.

better to be out the deposit than not being able to make the payment and that **** gets re-po'd.

Dont over extend yourself just for a new car ever, if it isnt easily added into your budget maybe you should wait another year. Or maybe shop for a used one at a slightly cheaper price.

Funny... my g/f traded her '93 Passat GLX wagon for her '03 MCS... it was meant to be her "daily driver" while she kept her '97 M3 for nicer days... until she realized she had to "force" herself to drive the M3 once in awhile... ...so she sold the M3 and bought a couple of classic cars...

So yes, if money isn't the problem, get the MINI.

Btw, we're in NJ too. Check out nemini.org. :D
