Destruction. Park the MINI and get a Subaru or one of these:

+1. get an '02 WRX for $10k and put some 15" gravel tires on and some big hit suspension and you'll be much better off than a MINI.

the thing with rally - you need suspension travel. The MINI comes with none....you'd have to totally rework the suspension pickup points to correct this.

better yet, get an early 90s legacy turbo... those are suprisingly quick, 14, 15' gravel wheels, and big suspension (tein and ohlins are good)

Thanks for the responses. I am serious about this.
I will be contacting the person above and do plan on going through the training classes.
My company does support and will sponsor race teams for employees, and I will be personally bankrolling this until it pays for itself.
I will be racing my personal little baby at first and for training but will search for a used mini that I can go crazy with that will be dedicated for racing.

just remember you don't need big power for rally-x. the ability to control the car is faster than hammering the skinny pedal. here's my buddy on Sunday at the SCCA rally-x (dcrally.com), driving a '98 Outback:

MSC22004 - Great link of the Lancia Stratos Rally car - I always loved that car. It dominated the Rally Racing in the mid 70's. The car still looks up-to-date today. Too bad Fiat didn't leave the Rally program alone and put their money into the 131.
PGT - Your first link of the 98 Outback run was allot faster and smoother than the WRX.
Too bad Rally Racing never caught on big in the US.

This thread reminds me of the old joke - How do you get a million dollars racing?
Start with 10 million.
