Only in San Francisco...

It appears that there are so many MINIs in San Francisco
that they have opened a park for them!

I had a new record the other day when I was walking the dog and came upon 4 MINI's parked on the street together, all in a row one behind another. They are MINI's that I see regularly in the neighborhood, but it was the first time I saw them converged like that, sort of like stars coming into alignment.

There are three in my neighborhood, one or two regulars on my commute, two or three on base, and one other at the school where I work. Still, Texas is still big ole truck and SUV territory, so not many MINIs.

They should just rename the area around Lombard street with that sign, it would be fitting.

Every time my wife and I go up to SF, we play a game where we count how many Minis we spot. Over Thanksgiving holiday (3-4 days), we counted about 100. No duplicates.

We were up there last weekend and counted 65 in a day and a half.

Fun game.

SF has to have the highest concentration of Minis of all cities in the US.

Could you post this in the MINI street sign thread?

Funny... the MINI PARK sign I posted was photographed
just a couple of block from where this picture was taken!
Is there something about Lower Pacific Heights/Japan Town
that just draws MINIs to it?

Just wait until the Magical Mystery Mini Tour in September! That should be a great weekend to count Minis in SF.

Zombie thread!

Had to resurrect this one just because on a single commute into San Francisco today, I spotted 24 (parked and on the road) in 45 minutes. I spotted more than 30 by lunchtime. It's crazy!

We like to watch the new show Fairly Legal which is filmed in SF. But...they speed up the film on street scenes frustrating our attempt to spot MINIs, a favorite TV watching pastime.

Anybody out there know the producer and could talk them in to slowing down the shots?

The reason there are so many Mini's in SF is that The City is the Land of No Parking Spaces :-)
