MINI Motoring Insurance?

My Mini is on a boat somewhere in the ocean on its way to me, and i'm starting to make plans for its impending arrival.

Has anyone tried the Mini Motoring insurance offered by Liberty? I have been a progressive customer for years and have been very happy with their service, but i'm wondering if there are real advantages to the customized mini insurance that liberty provides. Has anyone tried it (or decided not to)? would love to hear reasons for or against.

I understand that if you write off the car, they'll cut you a check for the purchase price of the car and not the depreciated value. But other companies are able to provide that coverage.

The MINI insurance also guarantees OEM parts for repairs and towing to the nearest dealer.

But I believe most states have laws that you're entitled to OEM parts for repairs and the roadside assistance you get anyways, have towing to the nearest dealer.

I say just give 'em a call and get a quote.

I am in the same situation. Car is on the boat, called for rates, $1700.00 higher than my current company!! I asked them to check three times, and he said the quote was correct, appoligized and said "the last 3 Connecticut quotes I have done have been high". I guess so, and that was with our 10% MINI discount and coverage not as high as what I have now!

I called them, too. It was rediculously high. I'm paying about $77/month, and it was closer to $200/month.

Worked out well for me.

I've actually done things backwards. Haven't purchased my Mini yet, but switched my insurance over to Liberty the first of this month. Comparing prices versus my old insurer saved me big bucks.

I compared prices with State Farm, Geico , and my former outfit, Encompass and came out way ahead with Liberty Mutual. (All told I'm covering 3 cars, plus our house... maybe this helped make a difference.)

SCAM !?!?!?!?

Be very carefull. I'd bet Mini gets a BIG KickBack for endorsing Liberty. You'll never beat having a local Indepentant Insurance Agent. Always ask your agent about the auto/home discount.

re: independant agent

Forgot to mention, I did check with one of the better indy agents in our
area. He represents several different companies , with Erie being about
the highest rated of there options.

His price was still higher than Liberty...

Not saying a person couldn't beat the rate... but from what I can tell, they
offer a good value for the buck. From what I've read on this board and others,
they take good care of you in the event of a claim.

That works for me.

I went with the MINI Motoring Insurance. Granted the perks and MINI endorsing them sweetened the deal, but really I chose them more for the rate they quoted me. A bit more than State Farm (the cheapest in my case), but significantly less than Geico, Progressive Allstate and AIG.

Also I had the unfortunate experience of totaling my MINI last year. Check for MSRP + taxes and my rates didn't go up.
