I'm looking to buy a used Mini JCW package car and want to see if the dealership can look up info on the cars history. Repairs and installs?? I know Benz dealerships will do this.

Is there any NAM members that work at a dealership that can research a VIN for me?

 

I got my car's service history before I bought it. I bought it from a dealer, so that made it easier.

 

I figured they could. Just wonder if they would do so over the phone?

Living in rural kentucky I will have to find a deal and then drive or fly out to pick up the car. And it might not be at a Mini dealership. Just found a Mini JCW at a Mini Dealership listed as also having the JCW air intake and the pics shows it don't. Thats an $$ difference.

Might have found a deal on a Dinan package MCS. But it was traded into a dealership so I doubt the original owner gave them the reciepts for the Dinan work. So know real method to tell if it has ECU, S/C, thottlebody, or camshaft upgrades.

 

Using Carfax reports you can find out about "reported" damage to the vehicle. Any MINI parts counter person can tell you what options came on the car when delivered using the VIN. My SA looked up my VIN for me and luckily they had serviced the MINI I was going to purchase so they had a service history as well.

 

I know that on VW cars the first several letter will show what package the car has. This would be very helpful when looking at used cars as the sellers often don't have a clue what "packages" are.

 

If you will call a service write at your local Mini dealership he will do it. Let him know you will use him for some service too.
