Sex change?
Neither John Belushi or Dan Acroyd were a gleam in anyones eyes back in 1932 when Cab Calloway wrote Minnie the Moocher.
My cat is a guy... He is named Wally. My cat is also astro black with white paws and white neck... So since my MINI is AB/W I am going with the working title of Wally Jr. I've seen my cat react to being called "she" He started scratching people. This black car is mean and I think that if you have a yellow or other feminine color then a girls name is nesssary. It's all about the color IMO.
That said, I think think Sybil is a good choice. I also think maybe your wife's name would be good too.

Purple's also royal...
(Which is partly why I picked it--my last name's King.)
Oh, did you mean the exterior color, not the mood lighting?

I see my MINI as a hot female german soldier in uniform.....a cigarette in one hand and a riding crop in the other.SSSHHWAAAP!
..kinda like when someone says, "oh I love your Mini, they are sooo cute...."
.....then you make the supercharger and exhaust scream.
...it aint so cute no more ,huh? huh?what?

IMO, you can name your MINI whatever you want; male, female, neutral, etc. And just to clarify, I believe the reference to cars, and other forms of transportation, as female is historical or customary. Maritime captains typically named their ships after their wives because they would be separted from each other for so long. Just some useful trivia I recall.
thank you gnat; probably believes Iggy Pop wrote "Lust for Life" for those cheesy cruise commercials also.....(and obtw that was Cab in the Blues Bros. doing that song)

I named mine "the Cooper" or "the Mini". It was easy, both are printed right on the car. I'm personally not much for naming cars, but have nothing against those who do (I actually understand pretty well, and have had the Cooper referred to as my mistress as well!).
Close, and I'm with ya Gnat, but Minnie the Moocher was based on an earlier (1927) Frankie "half pipe" Jackson's "Willie the Weeper", extended by Cab Calloway and his orchestra in 1930, then applied to cartoon form in 1932 with Betty Boop... Cab Calloway was already 73 when he finally recorded the Blues Brothers version in 1980!
Great song though, first real "scat" hit, kinda heavy with drug references, and Blues Brothers is definitely a classic of another type and genre...

LOL....I'm with you. In fact I think I've been having the same issue and will change the name of mine to "Bettie". I know there are alot of others out there with the same tribute to the legendary Bettie Page.
My wife refers to herself as a "car widow"

And don't forget the "safety word"...

Somewhat OT I know, but man, my MINI has been a naughty boy...
Kind of like this gal below?

Not like I'm complaining or anything...
I'm avoiding this problem by waiting until after I've had the car a few days to name it. According to my husband (and others I've seen posting here over the years) the MINI will let you know what gender it is, and if it approves of its name or not.
