MINIUSA Event News

Well, I guess there's going to be four regional events this year. Remember the poll last year?

11% One big national event.
27% Coast to Coast road trip (MTTS).
62% Four regional events.

Personally, I'm very disappointed. We already HAVE regional events: AMVIV, MITM, MOTD, and more I can't think of off the top of my head. What a waste of a good opportunity for a big national bash.

Ditto - I too am disappointed... We did part of MTTS and it was a total blast. Wish we would have had the vacation time to do the entire thing. We met some really neat people and it was just cool to be a part of such a special event...

It's not hosted by MINIUSA, but by MOALA - Mini Owners of America Los Angeles.

Make plans for this one in June!

We're going to wait until there's a national bash some day. We can see people on a regional basis all year.

Not everyone has 3-4 weeks worth of vacation to spare on a cross country roadtrip. Don't get me wrong, I would love to do something along the lines of MTTS '06, but it simply isn't feasible for some of us for a number of reasons, mostly, time.

Another problem with a long roadtrip, is that some regions of the country will be left out. MTTS '06 crossed over 1,000 miles north of the border of the state of Florida.

I hope this time around, Florida one way or the other will be included among the 4 regional events. And yes I was among the 62% of peasants that voted for the regional events.

Well, another way to look at MTTS was that it was a huge pile of regional events / drives. There was no rule you had to take 3 weeks and do the whole thing. Doing one day and the evening get-together would be cool too and you could call it a "regional event" if you wish.
This time, we're only getting four, not 12-14!

As for missing out some states - with only four events, you're going to miss out way more states than MTTS'06 did! All the (62%) regional voters will only be satisfied if it's their region that's included.

True, you have a point. We'll see how MTTS '08 pans out. If we can't make it this year, there is always MINI UNITED '09 in the UK next. That, I will not miss for anything!

^^Very True^^
Either way, I am planning on making my best efforts to go this year. I did the last leg of MTTS 06, and have wanted to do a cross country road trip for as long as I can remember. I will settle for a Regional bash. I just hope that it is HUGE!

Um, there is no MTTS 2008. Just four regional events, which I suppose will now compete with AMVIV, MOTD, MITM, etc.

I thought I voted for the regional event thing but I see in the MTTS '08 thread I voted for the Big Bang (one big national event).

Anyway... I wonder what percentage of MINI owners are aware of events like AMVIV, MOTD, MITM, MOT, etc.? It might be a moot point if the people that end up going to the regional events are the ones that would go to AMVIV, MOTD, MITM, MOT, etc. anyway, I suppose.

That's a good question ... I wonder how many people cast votes for the MINI USA poll, too?
Maybe MINI USA could/should send announcements about the other big events like those you list.

It's a bummer that US MINIacs prefer regional events rather than ONE big National event, maybe if they will organize one, people will attend and enjoy themselves. I attended both: MUs ('05 and '07) and MOTD ('05- '06 ) no comparison .. I will go to future MUs but I lost my interest in MOTD ( RT 129 with bunch of MINIs, bikes and cops it's fun once or twice and I am not interested in seeying bunch of vendors). I did the last leg of MTTS but I was participanting because of the GP delivery, so it was different.

MINI UNITED 2009 will be a blast as it marks the 50th Anniversary of MINI. get ready
