I've done searches and have only come up with driving impressions and subjective opinions regarding comparisons between the two models.

I'm interested in buying a low mileage (<8k miles per year) pre-owned Mini for my wife this year and would like to know the changes made when introducing the R56 model. Being a member of other car forums, I'm sure it's on here somewhere but I just can't find it. Any Threads someone can't point me to? For the R53, based on my searches, I've come to the conclusion that the '05-'06 MY is most desirable based on changes/improvements made between '04 and '05. Prior to buying anything I'll test drive each, of course, but right now I'm just doing my "paper study."

The engine is totally different and so does the manual gearboxes.
