When people who are nothing but dirt do stuff like this, they deserve to be caned. BTW, if you want to know how it's done, it's NOT at all like how the media show it. They use a very thin bamboo pole. EVERY lash cuts so deep that the buttocks are bleeding. It takes only one lash to get them bleeding. One retired soldier said nothing the enemy put him through was worse than the caning. That's what keyers deserve. They should get one lash per key with a dried up leather bullwhip. Trust me, they'll never do it again.

It doesn't look like keying to me. I agree with the
person that explained that. It looks like somebody
was leaning on it and slid down. Or maybe they
put a 20 lb purse on the hood, and it slid off.
(not sure about marks on both sides)

Everybody has their own ideas for their products.
I like www.malms.com

I think your best bet will be to have a professional
try to buff it out.

If you try to touch up yourself i think you will be very unhappy.
it's not a rock chip, it is a scratch.

You could also check around and find the people that go to
dealers to touch up scratches on new cars. (yes, they do this
and dont tell you). My friend and his wife used to do this.
They use a tiny airbrush pen. Super tiny and very expensive.

If you have the entire hood painted it will be slightly different.
You will always be able to tell it (maybe the casual observer wont
but you will be able to). It will be slightly different no matter how
good they are, because the clearcoat is a different thickness
and has a different refractive index. The difference will be very slight
but it will be there.

The super skilled people with the micro airbrush thing is your
best bet for a repaint in my opinion. But those people probably
have the industrial buffer too.

I guess I ran on and on.

The idea being is that new cars at dealers get big scratches
ALL the time. There are real professionals that go around
dealer to dealer, and make those scratches invisible.
You should find one of those professionals.

From: Gainesville, Florida-GO GATORS!
Same thing happened to my BMW M3 while in my driveway (MCSC was in garage); made the fatal error of telling my neighbor his son had a huge party while mom and dad were out of town and then by chance left my M3 in the driveway that night (it's usually garaged too). Anyway, took it to my favorite Auto Body Shop (GT Motor Cars in Gainesville, Florida) and they did a phenomenal job with fill, paint and clear coat of the scratch area (scratch ran the WHOLE length of the driver's door and front fender). Find a good body shop and they'll make it good as new for less than 1K.
Best wishes on this sad experience.
