General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Wow! And I thought Hyundai and Kia were bad for making their cars look like Accords, Jags, and Mercedes! That's just blatant - contrasting roof and all!!
I'm not sure...there's a lot of behind-the-scenes goodness to a real MINI that few cars can match...or even understand, it seems. I wonder how far the Chinese knock-offs will move off the mainland before the world market (and their lawyers) cries "foul!!"
Oh my god i want one. I wonder what the Chinese will call astro black? " super outer space black" or "rocket black" this is going to be great. I wish they name the car something cool like "Tiny Copper S" or "Little fast car" Copying is the most sincere form of flattery.
If you've ever been to China, there are many similar examples of knock-offs. I saw a Chevy Colorado in Shanghai last year, or what I thought was a rebadged one, realizing that GM is the #1 automaker in China. Found out later it was a knock-off. Other than the nameplates, it was a clone. But just because the body panels look similar, it doesn't mean anything else about the car is. I wouldn't want to get in an accident in one of these things. . . It's easy to copy designs, copying all the engineering of the chassis and rest of the car is a LOT harder to do.
are they serious??? that is about the ugliest thing i have ever seen!!! has anyone ever noticed that knock offs of almost everything seem to be made in china?
