General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Dang it, thought you were serious when I saw this thread . Mini really needs to make a limited production super car to get us back into the lime light so to speak. I'm thinking AWD, 275 WHP, lightweight.

I wish.
Rest assured it would end up being this abortion
or a variation of the revolting new wagon rather than a 3-door MINI. They would in effect make AWD that no performance enthusiast would ever want.
The performance enthusiasts is only one (pretty small) market and there are MINIs targeted for them (JCW, GP, Challenge). I'm no fan of these imaginary renderings either, but I think an AWD Clubman would be very useful/saleable for folks outside urban areas, in climates w/ harsh winters, or similar.

It's a dreadful shame, but BMW will probably see it that way as well.

Maybe, but they are after all trying to sell a car to the public. However, who's to say they wouldn't do a special model integrating AWD into a coupe. They'd have all the pieces. Sure, there may not be lots of them made, but some would jump on it, I'm sure...a GP sorta thing. All I'm saying is that in the end this may all work out....maybe it's a chicken-and-egg situation.
Besides...didn't someone say once here that the MINI coupe was too short for WRC regulations. What about a Clubman??? Who knows?
