Tool Kit Contents?

While there isn't much room in the MINI to store a large tool kit there is room for a small one in the boot storage area. I have purchased a small zip-up bag that is designed to hold a spare quart of oil but instead of oil I want to use it to keep a small tool kit of essential tools. Can those of you who have "been there and done" that please post what you consider to be some basic essential tools that you use for general maintenance on your car? I also figure I will put my Home Depot gift card to MINI use.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Anyone have ANY suggestions? I tried searching the archives but did not come up with any partial or incomplete lists though I seem to recall that there was a posting of the different size torx bits that were needed.

A small set of metric wrenches, socket wrench and sockets. A screwdriver with removeable bits that includes common torx sizes. A small adjustable wrench is good to.

Just about any basic roadside repair can be done with just a few multipurpose tools.

The above suggestions are good. Can you also include a vise grip, duct tape, and flashlight.

A folding torx set such as this is a must: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ece+hex+set.do

In terms of storage, there is some room between the battery and the sheet metal in the battery box in the Cooper S. Just wrap a couple of tools in a shop towel and squeeze it in. I'm sure you can also fit in a couple of hand tools inside the jack pouch in the Cooper S.

Here's another idea. I was going through the box full of stuff from my previous car and I found a padded zipper nylon case for the detachable stereo face. I managed to fit in a Dynaplug tire repair kit and a pair of pliers (to pull out the offending nail/screw) and it fits nicely inside the glovebox.

The only 2 times my MCS broke I needed a wire cutter, and the oil socket/ratchet, and some electrical tape. Now I keep an extra oil filter O-ring too. The nail remover kit is a good idea too.
