I will be looking at an 02 MCS with about 60K on the odometer. Any advice on what I should pay attention to? This is around my payscale b/c of the high mileage that is why I am considering it.

I got my 2002 MCS 15 months ago with 21,000 miles and it now has 57,000. The only thing that I had to replace is the power steering fan and dipstick snapped all other work have been mods.

I think the coolant expansion tank, window motors and ps fans are all known issues with the 2002. I love mine.

 

70k on my 04 and no major issues. I would check brakes to see how recently front and rears were done. Also check the front control arm bushings and half shafts for slop.

 

Get the VIN number and contact your nearest MINI dealer. You should be able to pull out its maintenance history to give you a good picture on the scope of issues the car might have had since new.
