MINI SUV officially named?!

Just fininshed reading AutoBlog claiming MINI CEO Kay Segler has announced the new MINI SUV (still can't believe those 3 initials pertain to a MINI) will be designated the R58 and the name will be "Crossman". I just wish people could refer to it as an AWD Clubman and leave it at that.

Does this mean the Clubman is an SUV as well then? Oh well, so much for progress. I hope they offer the AWD system in the normal Cooper S some day. THAT would be my next MINI. Cheers.

The Motoringfile article says that it is only a proposed name and not set in stone.

While Clubman is pretty cool, I'm not at all a fan of Crossman. However it's just a name and I won't be purchasing it, so to each their own.

may have trademark infringement issues with "Crossman", it's a well established company (airguns, ammo), for many years, with numerous trademarks so....

Did he use the letters 'SUV'? Everything I've seen so far refers to it as a 'SAV' (Sports Activity Vehicle). No matter ... I'm kinda interested to see what it's going to look like in final production trim ... and where they're going to price it.

I read somewhere that it will be called "Monte" - I wonder if Chevrolet will be angry.

The first I think about is BB guns. Clubman = Good, Crossman = Bad.

If it comes with a gun rack, I'm buying one.

I have a hard time believing the name Crossman will really come to market. I guess we'll just have to see how this SAV plays out. We'll be needing a new car to replace our CR-V in a few years so I'm hopeful this might fit the bill
