MINI Ladies... Stick or Auto?

Ok MINI ladies, did you go with stick or auto? I learned how to drive 5 speed with my last car...and love it more than auto now. So this was a requirement when ordering our Cooper S.

I love to drive a stick. Would prefer to have that over an automatic. However, I have a nerve disorder in my legs and I can't take the chance I won't be able to work the clutch if it flares so I went with an automatic. But that doesn't mean I don't absolute love my Mini!!!

I have a stick. That was one of things that drew me to the car. I just wasn't finding what I wanted in a manual. Lo and Behold mah mini has everything I want.. and having the stick.. makes it more fun to vroom vroom!

I have a stick and love it!

Side note: I learned how to drive stick the morning I went to pick him up

I'll be honest in saying that living in a city that has some pretty steep hills and a lot of snow, am a bit nervous, but has been okay thus far, we'll see how the first winter goes

Very envious of all of you that can drive a stick. My ex bought me an old manual Honda Civic back in the 80's for a case of beer( you can imagine the condition it was in). I had to drive that thing up a hill by myself and I've had a complex since then. So unfortunately it's an automatic for me. Besides I live in L.A. a manual would be a nightmare on our freeways.

I love stick, but have an automatic due to my long commute and the potential for traffic jams.

I love to drive a stick but my husband's medical condition required that I purchase an auto (yes I do let him drive it sometimes - when I had it that is )

But I have to say - for an automatic the MINI is fun - Doesn't have to put you asleep! The manual mode and paddle shifters are real nice when taking the twisties at max warp speed . It just really seems weird to not be dancing with your left foot .

I totally agree! That is how I live with my auto. I always drive in Sport mode and use the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Best of both worlds!

Clara is auto. I commute in horrific stop-and-go traffic, and to be honest, I really just don't enjoy driving a manual (*gasp* yes I said it out loud ).

Stick for me too. I learned to drive in 63 Beetle and the first new car I ever bought was a 75 Honda Civic and it was stick. It's been good to go back to my driving roots. I'm having a blast!

Stick, in every car I've owned...Hondas, 300ZX..and the MINIs. The Legacy, our 3rd car is auto, but at least it's turbo charged.

Stick even with a commute that can be stop and go for miles. It's so much more fun.
