Injured by my MINI!
4 days out--uglier than ever!
This burn is looking uglier every day. Doesn't look infected, but my initial hopes that the scar wouldn't be so bad are quickly fading. Didn't help that I accidentally scraped it on my cat's hammock this morning (yes, my cat has a hammock.) I think I'll get some Vit E ointment for it today.
This thread is not for the squeamish. Here's the ugliness:

I'm not a doctor, and I didn't even sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night. But... that does appear to have a minor infection. There's some yellow-ish gunk in there.
Clean that wound out with something strong and painful (the more it hurts, the more it works, right?) like Isopropyl Alcohol. And then use that on it periodically until the skin over top of it heals up.
And hey... if your cat starts to nibble at it, you know it's not infected. Cats wouldn't eat bad meat.

It's not infected. What you see is connective tissue and a pretty poor-quality photo.
Thanks for your concern though

If you perpetually scrape a wound (chemically or physically) that doesn't actually need debridement, you will only make the scarring process more substantial. It's like pulling off a perfectly good scab over and over again. Instead...listen to your mother...don't pick at it!
What a great idea!!

I detect a tad of sarcasm.
Reason it wasn't covered this am is because I just finished swimming for an hour and it wasn't dry--it would stick to the dressing as it dried. Not to worry...it is currently covered!

ARGH... I just got TWO in TWO days -- one on each leg!!!!!! One while putting the carpet cleaner in, the other while taking the carpet cleaner out... the one on my left leg is huge and is blistered.
Hey, doc, should I just keep it covered? What do I do when the blister goes down? It's like having a big ol' snake on my leg. I've only had my Eliza two months, and now she's branded me for life. Not happy. Is it just me, or is a dumb design? I'd like to say I won't do it again, but sometimes you just gotta lean in. It's not all that ladylike to straddle....

I remember when I first joined NAM, someone posed a similar thread about their kid getting toasted on the exhaust tips of of their S. What made it different, was this person wouldn't take any responsibility (or their kid) for their actions. Blamed the design of the Mini for all of it.
Man, did they get a further toasting on the board!
Wondie, you may need to change your SN now to: DOC Wondermini
