I had a guy come running across the parking lot at one of the accounts I visit, to ask me what kind of engine my Mini had in it. I mentioned the new 2007 has an engine made by Peugot, but that all earlier Minis had a Chrysler block in them. He already knew this, and his only reason for asking was so that he could point out that his Neon has a much bigger engine in it, more horse power, --it's faster, quicker, blah-blah-blah. He then stuck his head inside my car to have a look around, asked if the tach came standard. I told him everything he saw was standard except the aux guages beneath the climate controls and he then said "Oh, those are cute!"... I find it all rather amusing myself. As a former Chrysler LeBaron owner, I know first hand what a piece of **** most Chryslers are. And frankly I didn't see much point in trying to convince this guy (who I didn't know from Adam) what an unfortunate individual he was to own a Chrysler product.

People will believe what they want to believe, even if their "superior" Neon makes all sorts of creaky noises and squeaks just getting in and out of the thing.

Have a door slamming contest. Tell them to watch the windows.

I expected a bunch of negative comments at my office (law enforcement), as they of course drool over the big motor fast cars we put on patrol. Much to my surprise out of everyone at my office, I have only had 1 negative comment. Pretty good considering how many work with me. All the comments I get when I am out an about are usually "I love your car" and "I bet that car handles great." It is the most fun car I have ever owned, its a shame I had to wait so long to get one.

Yes, but I'm sure it doesn't quite to compare with the caprice classic that Chevy had to dump on all those poor police departments a few years ago.

I have a classic mini and I took her to a car show one day and I had an audience while my dad, my sister, and I got out of the car. They thought it was great. We are all 6' tall and everyone thinks the car has no room in it. We have plenty of room in it.

People say the same thing about my xB too. They've never sat in one before so I just ignore them.

That's a great story. It must be great fun to see the looks on other people's faces when the three of you exit your car.

Yeah. There was about 12 people standing around watching us get in. We had a bigger crowd when we got back in the car later.

Your car looks great. Do you know the story of it getting imported into the U.S.?

Not really. The guy I bought it from was the first one to own it in the US (I'm the second ) And he said it was brought over in 03. That's pretty much all I know. And she's originally from Preston, England (know that from the plates)

Actually, the "Mini" emblem is sort of ubiquitous. Steak & Shake uses it, Unity Church uses it, --I even have a little digital postal scale with some no-name Chinese brand that uses it. The ball with wings thing is hardly unique.
