lol.. same here.. i love it when i find a parking spot that is just big enough to fit a mini... I also got all the comments.. girls love the car.. and some guys will make fun of me.. but its a bit of jealousy.. people that say the car is ugly.. have no style.. minis are a damn good looking car..and it stands out.. on top of that.. it hits all the sweet spots.. compact luxury, high resale value, fast and peppy, and fuel efficient.. it use to bother me when ppl make fun of my car.. but i dont care anymore cuase i truly love my car... and everyone that has sat in it.. or has drivin with me.. also falls in love with the mini... man i feel concieted when i stare at my car

Thse "cute" comment or clown comments would bug me at first, but now I just don't care. I have come to the realizaton that ignorance is all around us and thus the comments being made. Some of you have said, and I can relate, that just as soon as someone gets in the car and take it for a spin; their opinion or whatever of the car changes.

One word my fellow Miniacs, ignorance and don't rely on "other validation" to make you happy!

This is the most fun car I have ever had, and I am loving every minute that I spend behind the wheel.

Hubby's friend: "Heh heh heh...how many clowns can you fit in that car?"
Me: "I don't know...why don't you get in and we'll find out?"

And I agree that a screaming ride through some twisties will shut anyone up.

At a little over 6'5", it's always interesting to get the reaction of people that see me get out of the Mini. One of my partners drives an Escalade and she was blown away by the room in the Mini when we took it to a meeting.

More fun than any of the dozens of other cars that I have owned. Other than feeling that the pickup is better suited to hauling a trailer, it does everything else I need.

I wonder what your co-workers would say if you painted your car PINK!?

My co-workers think I'm nuts!

If you're talking to me, the OP, I can assure you that's NOT going to happen!

The only time my size is a disadvantage (6'7", 280) is the extra weight I take to the track. Working on it though.

I get the: "Whutillitdo in a quarter mile?"
I say, "about 14-15 seconds."
Them, "I could beat that!"
Me "None of my quarter miles, are straight!"

A gallon of Pepto-Bismol will do the job.

You haven't heard the real clown car jokes until you have driven a Classic.

this thread made me think of the movie Shakes the Clown for some reason, though I can't for the life of me remember what kind of car he drove. I don't think it was a Mini...

Maybe it's all in the tone of voice, but everyone who has called my car "cute" has said it in an endearing, I love your Mini tone of voice. I've taken them all as compliments.

Trust me, the cute comments I got were definitely not endearing! Now once my co-workers got their fill of laughter, the real deal came out. They all wish they had one!

On the other hand, the guy who started the "Clown Car" bit a couple of days later came up to me as we were both leaving work today and asked me "Just how fast is that car?"

I told him "Fast enough that you don't want to chance it!"

You see, this guy is the traditional old school "muscle car" enthusiast. He's a mechanical engineer, and he loves to do his own work and modify his cars, and has a reputation to uphold. I've seen his cars, and I know I can't take him in a straight away, but I'll leave his behind in the twisties! All his cars are old, low tech, straightaway brutes that can fly, but I'll take my Mini any day, all day!

I didn't mean anything by my comment. I'm just a guy, and I would have no part of my car be pink. But I have absolutely no issue with you painting yours that color. Why would I? After all, it is your car, right?

I find it all fascinating. We've always had this bigger is better mantra in the U.S. I had a 1968 Camaro and a 1969 Charger while I was in high school and I loved those cars. But I didn't like the gas mileage of the Charger and went smaller after that.

Even here with Mini, though, people have some of the same thoughts. Worldwide, sales of the MC and MCS are about equal. In the U.S., it's something like 75 percent MCS.

I had a meter reader in OK make a "clown car" crack when my 03 was new and I was pissed...now I just think he's an idiot. People actually stop and get out of their vehicles to tell me how cool the cars are and ask questions. They make up for the others.

Good for you.

Sorry guys (and gals). The MINI IS cute in both an endearing as well as denigrating way (if you allow it to be). If you don't have the self confidence to take the ribbing and blow off ignorant comments, you shouldn't own one. I love having a no-show go-boat. I also love the large American muscled iron and the Italian auto-ex(r)otica. This decade I feel like driving a go cart.
