Las Vegas infested by MINIs
If you last stayed in a courtyard room before AMVIV 4 (March 2007), they have been completely remodelled and are quite nice now.
Am I the only one excited to be taliing about AMVIV already?
Absolutely. Connie (our main contact at Palace) seemed a bit concerned when I told her I didn't see much difference between the room before & after the ugrade except for the TV. Seems they are trying to "reposition" Palace as a higher end casino than it's been viewed as for the last 10-15 years.
I noticed that San Francisco is one MINI town that last time I was out there(march). With it's twisting, hilly streets and Marin Co just next door it's also has to be one of the best places to own a MINI as everyday can be like a MINI dragon run! I just wish you could rent them for a reasonable rate (currently about $150 per day, limited mileage).
We stayed at Palace Station last Sunday night...
On our return trip from MITM, we stopped in Vegas on our way home. We spent the night at Palace Station. I was interested in a shower and sleep (not luxury)...so we went with a court yard room for $59, plus some tax...$64.59 total. The room wasn't impressive. It was clean though, had a shower and a bed...that's all I was looking for after 700 miles of roadtrip.
However, for AMVIV...the tower is where it's at...convenience, views of the MINIs, and IMHO - nicer rooms (even before whatever "remodeling" they may have done).
Can I ask for a room in the tower with no T.V. and get a more reasonable rate??
That's quite a price hike.

We enjoy slummin' it in the Garden rooms.
It's fun to get lost every time you try to find your room, "Turn right when you smell the beauty salon, honey!"
Kidding aside, the rooms are just fine. Our only complaint is the shower is too small.
If you want luxury, go to the Bellagio or Venetian.
We just wanna have fun with MINIs and MINIacs!!!!!

Smelled bad, all kinds of "interesting" stains on the floor.
But, you're right, Batgirl...getting lost down there can be fun! Rock n' roll!
Overall, the past 2 years the Garden rooms haven't been a bad value.
I'd rather pay less and have an "acceptable" room (than splurge on "luxury")... so there's $$$ left for MINI swag!
And gas to get home.

I was kinda annoyed at the large price hike this year, but they kept telling me "it's because you didn't really have price raises the last 2 years" which I think is a bunch of crap. But we got time crunched. Who knew you had to sign the contract 8 months out to lock in the "good" rate? If we didn't sign last week, the rates would have gone up more.
Wow...booking for AMVIV already.
One of the limitations we were working with when looking at other hotels is that you guys coming in from out of town mostly want to stay on or right by the Strip. We could get a better rate if we moved 5 miles from the Strip, but when I was touristing here, I wanted to be either on the Strip or in Downtown (old Vegas). From Pahrump, you can't even SEE the Strip! Where is Hawthorn?
From my trips to LV I have noticed that unless your paying big bucks all the rooms are just OK- My first trip was a trade show at the Riviera (needs to be torn down and rebuilt) and the second I stayed at the Excaliber (casino is OK but the rooms are scary)-in fact when I got into my room it looked really familiar to me then I realized I think I saw it in a "movie" shown during my batchelor party. Sure it'd be fun to hold it at the Wynn or the Palms but who wants to shell out $300+ a night!
