Melting plastic smell

Not sure the cause so not sure what forum but...

In the last few days I've noticed the smell of melting plastic after driving the car. It is very strong but my nose can't locate the source. I sniffed under the bonnet, thinking it might be the plastic filter case on my K&N HAI touching something hot. Nothing. Besides, that was installed a few weeks ago and the smell is recent. Nothing visually obvious, but the smell is unmistakable.

Did a brief car wash last weekend, but nothing unusual and didn't need any detailing (so no chemicals on the exhaust that might burn away).

Stumped ...any ideas?

I had a plastic bag stuck to my muffler on an old honda I had, that was causing a plastic burning smell ;and driving me nuts till I found it during an oil change

I was going to suggest that too. My wife's car picked up a plastic grocery bag on the exhaust. It took a couple of weeks for the smell to go away.
