MINI in the Parade
MINI in the Parade
Hi all, I haven't posted in a VERY long time, but I couild not resist sharing these pics of my Cooper S leading the University of Alaska Southeast in the Juneau Alaska 4th of July Parade.

As you can see, we fitted it with a Graduation hat and cute eyes.
The good news was that it wax the hit of the parade with people rushing into the road to get their picture taken with the car. The bad news was that I had to ride the clutch and drive 1 mile and hour for, well... an hour.
Here's another shot...

The smaller city of Douglas is directly across the bridge (well, about 3 miles), so we ran the little car through that parade as well. The trick was driving over a bridge in the wind (and rain) while wearing a hat. I was worried that my co-pilot was going to be sucked out the sunroof while trying to keep the hat from flying away!
My buddy Cody Bennett snapped a many more pictures and has them posted on his site: http://photos.codyjbennett.com/galle...3334#169751050

Cool pics.. Looks like Juneau has changed a lot since the last time I was there - during the summer of 1968.
Back then it was pretty much a sleepy li'l fishing / mining town. Looks like a big city now - beautiful place.

Whew! Good thing I washed it!
Thanks for the compliment... as it happens, I was WAYY to busy to wax it... I was grinding my teeth about sending my baby to the parade without giving it my all... all I had time to do was give it a nice wash and then I back-to-blacked the plastic bits while we waited for the parade to start.
Fortunately, the CR holds up well and doesn't take a lot to look great.
I wonder if a spoiler that large would create enough down-draft to keep the back a little cleaner....
Juneau has gotten a bit bigger --- we're all the way up to 30,000 people now. Not bad for a capital city.
Unfortunatly, we still only have about 50 mile of roads... I don't normally mind, but it can make motoring a little frustrating.
