It's not technology for technology's sake. Having had the exact same modles of car, one in RWD and one AWD I can attest to the benefits of AWD. I, personally, wouldn't give up something because it might cost me something in the distant future.

AWD has no benefit to me and far too many detriments. For me, it is technology for the sake of technology.

It was all I could do to accept a front wheel drive car. I would prefer rear wheel drive.

There is no *might*. Mechanical devices need repair or maintenance from time to time. No one, to my knowledge, has been able to build anything that lasts forever without some level of work having to be done on it. The more mechical bits, the more the costs to keep it running. I keep vehicles for 10 years.

And the benefit of AWD is that it is RWD until the rears can't keep traction. Of course, In TX, that isn't that much of a problem, I suppose.

I was thinking catfish but carp works too. Either way it's ugly!

I did notice that is a pretty bad photoshop mock up so I doubt there's any reality in that design (at least I hope not)
