Motoring music...
In a desperate attempt at distraction (my Coop is due next week), I'm asking for help in compiling the perfect CD (music-only) for long-distance motoring or for the daily commute (man, this is going to be fun)!
What do you suggest? Although I'm a big blues fan, I pretty much listen to everything (before coming back to the blues)...
Thanks in advance for helping to keep me distracted...

You have a great play list there. I think you'll need more than 1 cd.
Nice list you have there, shadowjack.
Just to throw in my $.02, I never go anywhere without some Rush. "Red Barchetta" fits the theme of a driving playlist, and "The Spirit of Radio" is good, too.
As for other stuff, here's a few of my favorites for listening in the MINI:
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
Hey Driver - Lucky Boys Confusion
Last Day - Silver Sun
Flying High Again - Ozzy
DOA - Foo Fighters
On Edge - Authority Zero

As a recent Mini owner...I still don't have a nice playlist...BUT everytime I step into my mini and turn on the radio, the Shop Boyz "Party Like a Rockstar" comes on. It never fails! With that i'm just rolling the streets slowly with my little pepper white mini!
Now I have to ask what you've named your Mini?
Thanks!
- no question about the loud part. The whole neighborhood knows when I get home from work and I turn down the volume before getting there...
+1
But, my vote goes for songs like She's The One and Jungleland.
With her killer graces
and her secret places
that no boy can fill...
or:
Tonite they meet 'neath
the giant Exxon sign that brings this fair city light

I know you probably won't go with mine, but I love listening to God Module while cruising down the road. It's a great sound and just keeps you rolling. When I picked up one of their albums a while back I stuck the CD in teh car and started to drive. Got half way to San Fransisco before I relaized that it was a dumb idea and turned around and went home. But the music just kept me going.
Checked them out on iTunes. Not bad, kind of an industrial sound. I might have to pick some of that up.
I listen to lots of different types of music and I do like other electronica, mostly trance. Guys like Digweed, Sasha, and Oakenfold are amazing. And they're all from the UK so I think the MINI actually plays them louder.
