Girly?!?!
here in the UK the mini is considered 'girly' too. i got a lot of stick when i told my friends i was getting one (arriving tomorrow - can't wait).
the original mini was considered a girls car largely due to the fact you had to be a tiny little female to drive one comfortably. i guess some stigmas stick over the generations!

I think some guys get defensive when girls see it and call it cute. And you have to admit as an owner that's when they all call it. But look at it this way: if they say you and called you cute, would that mean you're a girly man?
Even though I'm a MINI owner, prefer small cars, and have owned several I'll share a funny moment where I was the bigger vehicle. I think you'll find it funny even though it's a funny going the 'other way' re: truck vs car.
I have at times as now also owned a BIG van that I drive only occasionally when I need to haul bikes, boats, lumber or 10 people.
At a four way stop a fellow in a Miata ran the stop sign as I was pulling out and turning right taking my correct turn. I gave him a nice sound sample of my horn as a "Thank you" for running the stop sign. He had the top down and a lady in the passenger seat.
We ended up side by side at a light at the end of the block at which point he looked up at me and let loose a barage of profanity describing his estimate of me, and his less than kind ideas about full size vans and f*ing trucks etc.
When he paused (either to catch his breath or review if there were any more cuss words he knew but hand't used yet) I said 'I'm sorry you don't like my truck. I like your little car! I've got three or four of those things in the back of the truck somewhere but I keep loosing the key to wind em... His lady started laughing her *** off, he redirected his anger at her and the light went green.
Yes, I prefer em too. (MINI's and the like) But I knew what to say to tick him off even if I didn't mean it / think that way.

yeah! We pile out of one of ours at a soccer game, (myself, my wife, and our two girls) and people have said more than once "Your other car must be bigger" and I say, no, it is exactly the same size, just a different color!
I keep threatening to have a few copies of this shirt made.
I actually get far more mileage out of taunting people with big cars than they get out of me. People who subscribe to the "bigger is better" school of thought are generally very insecure. If you flash them a knowing smile and are confident and secure in your choice of a smaller car then they get flustered very easily.

Ive been obsessed with it for quite some time now, and being stuck over in Iraq dosent help much, but you ought to hear the guys laugh at it. Then again, theres te smarter ones who understand. It's funny because they all swear by there big ol trucks but they beg as soon as we get back to let em take it for a spin. Odd how that works out.
I knew then that I had the wrong girlfriend!
I traded her in for one who likes F1, we've been married for years now!
Last night over dinner I mentioned to my lady friend that I would be getting a Mini for my new car. She questioned the choice, and when I asked if she thought a 335i or a 'Vette was better suited to me, her answer was yes. RED FLAG! I guess I just don't get the image or status thing that some people ascribe to certain cars.
I'm thinking it is sexist to call it a girly car, and sexist as well to feel anything except superior to anyone who calls it a girly car. That said, has anyone ever called the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile a girly car?
Oh, I do recall, just one time, repsonding the the girly car thing by saying "chick magnet." It seemed appropriate as I had three women in the car at the time.

[My suggestion would be to take 3 of these girly friends on a spirited test drive, make a point of doing some handbrake turns, taking sweeping corners and really using the brakes when you need to stop. Then ask your friends if they still think the MINI is girly!
