Hey everybody, I bought an 07 S, Im a soldier (US) in Germany an I took it out on A7 and at 125 mph there is a terrible howl. Does Anyone elses do this? It is coming from the glass roof, I think the gasket. Any Ideas? The dealer was not to impressed with me... I recorded it and they said toooo fast. but I bought the car to drive it, not garage it. By the way Im new here so any info for 07s is greatly appreciated.

 

Probably coming from around the windshield. Happened to me and many others. Next time you hear it, push your hand against the inside of the windshield, and you'll notice a change in pitch. The moulding or weatherstripping isn't what it should be I think, and at high speeds, air is forcing it's way under the molding creating a harmonic vibration. Or, even worse, the airpressure is slighly pushing the windshield inward, creating the same issues.

 

Hey I didnt think about that!!! Im'a gonna do that saturday. So what is the fix? I know that it really isnt an issue when I come back to the USA,(speed limit) but I still have time here and I drive VERY fast. My rental MINI CABriolet pushed 145 mph for 3 hours to Austria.....Thats why I have a MINI today these things are just wonderful! I appreciate the advice!!!!!!

The first time it happened to me, was at 70! Though it has climbed a bit higher since. Usually over *cough* triple *cough-cough* digits.

 

You're driving in Germany and the dealer said,"Too fast."???? I've driven over there and the Germans drive like speed demons!!!
