2006 USGP at IMS
Well I guess I won't be able to join the coral since I bought my tickets second hand and the speedway will only sell passes to the people who bought tickets directly.
No worries, there is still a race to watch.
EDIT
I contacted the person that I bought the tickets from and they were able to call and get the coral pass for me. I'm in!

I'm incredibly excited especially because all I hear about is how flippin' sweet the Red Bull parties are at the races. I'll be sure to take advantage of the opportunities I'll have (including a serious attempt to get Scott's autograph for ya DrDiff). There's actually a pretty cool story regarding the procurement of these credentials. If anyone's interested, I'll tell it

Here's how the corral passes work. All passes have a letter N on them, denoting that we are authorized to park along the back stretch at IMS on race day, as well as Friday and Saturday of the USGP week-end. This area is reserved for several car clubs, MINI, Audi, Ferrari, BMW, Lotus, what have you. They aren't specific to any particular marque. Nevertheless, there is some screening that goes on, I mean we couldn't have the Enterprise Rental Toyota Corolla section could we?
As the different clubs arrive as co-ordinated or not so co-ordinated groups, I've seen IMS do two different things: 1) There may be designated parking by marque: the MINI area, the Ferrari area, the BMW area, or 2) first come- first served with everybody parking in their arrival order, so that while the car clubs are still represented, we aren't all parked next to one another. Don't have a clue as to what we'll get to do this year.
Last year, we MINI folk made a rondezvous at a local stripmall and caravaned in together with something like 15 - 20 MINIs.
Here's another one who'll be at the GP. We've been every year since it returned at Indy.
I need to call to get the Corral pass. We did last year and it was great. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and hopefully seeing a great race.

How many MINIS were at Indy last year? Me and the wife drove out last year but didn't know anything about this. So it sounds like we can exchange our parking pass that we have for the corral pass? Too bad this may be the last F1 race at Indy. And we should have a full field this year..

Hey All:
I took a stroll over to the corral following today's second practice . . .
I'm pretty certain that I positively identified J-Stylez and MGC Man's soopa clean rides. Could not find Dr. Diff's.
Congrats, gentlemen, your cars look great . . . (I looked without touching) . . . by the way, you didn't see any sunglasses on the backstretch wall when you returned by any chance . . . ? I left my great but cheapo shades there after oogling over your cars.
Thought about making another trek over later after the bottom fell out but just couldn't muster up the fortitude in my feet from walking all over all day.
Any Mini-related plans for tomorrow? I'm gonna hit the circuit very early to check out the museum and to get a good spot for some more pictures. Kiss and Make-up party later downtown.
You aren't going to find MIB at the track. Wednesday as I was headed to work I heard a strange noise in second. I got home and got 2 hours sleep and took MIB in to D&R. They have to replace the transmission. I have a PW/B CVT loaner untill they can get the replacement in and installed. And it is July forth weekend....
I don't know if we will attend the car club cruse or not. It depends on if MrsDiff's mom gets here to watch the boys in time or not.
DON'T FORGET 7 pm local time D&R / MINICCI Cook out. ALL MINIS are invited no mater what club you may or may not belong to! We will be there for that in the loaner MINI. And we are still on for the 9 am escort from the zoo to the track.

High expectations greet Ferrari mechanics upon arrival.

Clean as a Surgery (operating room).

A young fan awaits his favorite pilot.

Hey all Blubelle and I were in the Car Corral today, unfortunately I couldn't make the BBQ at the MINI dealership. See everybody tomorrow at the Corral.

2008 USGP at IMS???
I saw this on the news and in the paper. GP fans might be interested.
The mayor of Indianapolis has offered city funds to help fund future USGP events. Tony George and the Hulman family have never taken money from the city to promote events at IMS. Word is that the city takes in $100 Million on F1 weekend. Mostly international money.
NO word from "Brainless" Bernie about 2007 and beyond. Tony George has said that there has been no contact from the FIA about future F1 races at IMS. Though Tony has stated that he will persue them.
