Helmet? HPDE/Motorcycle

After searching and reading through the threads discussing helmet reccomendations and considerations and getting a few responses in another thread that I quasi-jacked, I thought that it would be better to start a new thread addressing my question:

Can anyone make any reccomendations for a helmet that is SA rated that would also be well-suited for use on a motorcycle? I'd like to stay below $500.

I'm looking to purchase a helmet that I can use both at HPDEs and on a motorcycle. While I don't yet own a motorcycle, I am planning to get one this spring. I want to get an SA(2005) rated helmet because I know the track facility I usually run the MINI at will require it. If I can avoid it, I'd like to not have to buy two different helmets.

I have gathered that weight, ventilation, and visibility are concerns on a motorcycle helmet that may not be quite as critical for an automotive application.

I started looking at www.soloracer.com (who used to be a sponsor here but can't tell if they still are) and found the Pyrotect Full Face which is actually available as both M and SA rated (it seems the only difference might be a fireproof liner). It is described as having a large eyeport and obviously has some variable venting on the front. I have no idea how its weight compares to other helmets. I was considering it in black, but have read comments which suggest that might not be a wise choice for heat reasons.

I would appreciate any comments and/or suggestions about this helmet or others can recommend!

I have an open face Pyrotect and am happy with it. That said, the full face helmet is not recommended by the SCCA for cars equiped with airbags. For running your Mini at HPDE / autocrosses, you might want to get an open face helmet. I have had good experience with the HJC brand which I have been able to purchase at a local motorcycle shop for about $100. We use them as loaner helmets for our local SCCA events. I know they are Snell approved, but not sure if SA, that you would have to check.

I have the Pyrotect in a SA2000 rating in black. I have been using it for 3 years at HPDE's. It's a great helmet, no complaints.
