That is incorrect. Cast wheels are like swiss cheese in a sense, no matter how heavy. Forged wheels are stronger and lighter.
I'm not sure where people are breaking any wheels unless they're driving into craters at full speed (aside from the track), but I've never had an issue with Rotas, and they're MUCH lighter, but still a cast wheel.
Nope, there's virtually no advantage to the stock wheels, back in '02, I ditched mine within a week, never to be seen again. On my '05, I saved my base wheels for rain tires. But my regular street wheels for both were Rota Slipstreams.
If you truly want a lightweight and strong wheel, you generally can't go wrong with a forged wheel.

Does Rota make the X-Lite wheels I have seen mentioned, or if not does anyone know who does? Also, who manufactures S-Lites, does anyone know?

I disagree in part. Forged wheels are pound for pound lighter than cast. That isn't to say a given forged wheel is stronger than all cast wheels. Also, there are plenty of quality non-forged wheels that are nearly as light as forged and nearly as strong. Forged in most cases aren't worth the price, especially quality ones. All forged wheels are not alike. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't own a non-BBS forged wheel.
