Willow springs times...

Can people post some of the times at willow/streets of willow, as well as rough modifications (ie pully and a few bolt ons, bone stock, race modded etc).

Trying to get a feel for speed around a track before purchasing, and Willow is the only comparison that I have/know.

Thanks,

I'd love to see some times as well. My only reference point is in my previous car: 92 Nissan Sentra SE-R with most of the bolt-ons and street tires turned consistant 1:45's my only time at Streets of Willows.

I have been wondering about the lap times of a MINI compared to a motorcycle. Now I know. Lap times on the big track for a good rider are in the low 1:30's with record times I believe dipping into the 1:20's. I am an average rider and the last time I was there I was in the 1:40's on a moderately fast bike before I low sided in turn 3 (not hurt but bike was done for the day). The record for an Indycar is 1:06. Yikes!

I have been driving Big Willow for many years now; however I would never consider my self anything more than an amateur. In my Mustang I usually run in the low 1:40s and my best time is 1:36.

The first time out in a Mini was October 2004. My run times are still in the low 1:40s and my best time was 1:38. I hope to do better come May 2005

I wanted to revive this thread and see if any one has lapping times at the Willows UNDER 1:40?

there are a bunch of us headed to Streets of Willow on the 23rd, I know Danny had a transponder the first time out there and was clocking 1:34s , right there with the aerial atoms! That was on street tires too!

For comparison sakes, most of the quick guys in GT3s on R compounds are in the 1:31 - 32 range. But, Big Willow is a place where seconds can drop off in big chunks when enough seat time & some bravado are in order!

Streets of Willow: I haven't run the long course with the bowl in the back (Section D), but have logged hundred of miles on the track minus the bowl (Section C, 1.7 miles). My quickest time was a 1:15.7 (2005) in a 993 C4S with PSS9s and Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (everything else on car was stock). I once held the track record with the Porsche Owners Club in 2000 with a time of 1:22.5 in my bone stock '86 Carrera on street tires, but this was before they repaved the track and it then became about 1.0 - 1.5 seconds quicker. Both of these times were set with the Porsche Owners Club.

I recently picked up my '05 R53 this week, and wanted to know if there are any Mini clubs that go out to the Streets, or to Big Willow? I would like to go out later this year. Thanks.

Rich

If there isn't an "official" club gathering, then perhaps we can get some people together and go out with the POC at the Streets. They always run good, safe events and they allow all makes to run with their club.

There is a RedLine track event at Streets on Feb 9-10. A good number of us should be there on Saturday. PM me if you need details.

Thanks for the info, goaljnky.

I don't think I've heard of RedLine. Do they run safe events?

If I'm available that weekend, then I may just try to come out. The only thing I'll do to my car is get a proper alignment and bleed the brakes with some good fluid (i.e. ATE blue).

No problem. You have a PM. Brake fluid is a must as far as I'm concerned. I co-drive with the wife so brake overheating is always a concern.

I've heard of stock R56s running mid 1:30's with the bowl, can't say for sure though
