I have a Mini S coming within a few months and am an avid driving school participant. Any info out there concerning perfromance upgrades yet?

I'm wondering what the car actually weighs, as the factory booklet says 2314 for the Cooper and 2469 for the S, and the factory website says 2524 for the Cooper and 2678 for the S; some 200 pounds more!

For those of us here in the states there are a couple of sources already. They are:

Mini Mania - New Mini

Mini Madness

I'm most familiar with Mini Mania's offerings because they have been covered in the press. There is a great article in British Car on what Mini Mania has done with setting the COOPER up for the track. Click on the above link or check the Reading List link (here on the site) to go to the British Car web site, then click on Current Issue to see the Mini Mania COOPER on the cover. As of 4/1/02 this issue should still be on the newstands.

From the article they have:

If you go to their site you will find they don't have everything available yet but it should be soon. They have also mentioned a turbo system is in development for the COOPER. (more of a street than a track application)

Can someone from Europe comment on track/performance options that are available there that we might be able to import to the states?

    Mark

A couple of other sites/tuners to keep an eye on:

    Turner Motorsports

    Rogue Engineering

Turner's developing a website for Mini's w/ products. NOt sure yet what they'll offer. So far, I've only found H&R coilovers on their site.

Rogue already has a Brembo big-brake kit & pads/rotors/lines right now. They also have in development: lightweight flywheel, stronger clutch disc, cooper s 2.25" exhaust, SC pulley upgrade (doesn't specify how much it ups boost tho), strut tower bar, and adjustable rear LCA (for dialing in camber). A lot of RE's stuff can also be found at Mini Madness. HTH.

I would assume that an MSD system would be an pretty good addition to just about any Mini-cooper, especially with its high compression ratio on the non-S and the High boost of the S. Add an MSD system, and a Chip, you should definatley be able to notice a big difference.
