Anyone remember last year when Bernie proposed turning the qualifying positions upside-down? Last place qualifier on the pole, etc. I'll bet the traditional leaders wish he'd gone ahead with this...

New World Order? How 'bout New GP Order?

Stupid SpeedTV. I missed the race as I was AutoXing on Sunday. They aren't having a replay. What kind of crap is that? I tried recording it, but the DVD recorder screwed up. Geez! Time for a DVR!

Anyone here record it? I'll paypal you to ship a copy of it!.

Speaking of Speed, is anyone else having a problem reading the lap numbers at the top of the screen? No problem last year with the same tv, but they are impossible this year.

I wrote to them last night; too early for a reply.

Yup, same deal. I have that problem with MotoGP coverage via a Dish feed.

Ours has been fine. Are you on cable or Dish? As I recall I had a similar issue with cable when we were in our apartment, except it was with the drivers names at the left side of the screen during qualifying.

I have it on my DVR and can easily burn you a disk. If you haven't already set something up, send me a pm.

I had the same problem from time to time though my picture was stretched horizontally...but on every channel (not just Speed) and it was intermittent. I didn't even notice it for a while until one day I saw some text cut partially off on one side or the other. Turned out to be my converter box was acting up. Cable company came out and replaced the box, problem went away.

We're on Dish, too. Wonder if that's the problem. We did get a new box since last season. I'll see what Speed has to say before I call Dish. We've had no other problems with this channel or any others.

I didn't notice it most of the time because there had to be something at the outer edge of the screen that I knew was supposed to be there. Think about it, with most scenes if they're clipped only slightly in either direction you're not likely to notice it because you don't know anything is missing. I started seeing network logos clipped off at the edges, and on Speed it clipped off half of the qualifying order info from the left side of the screen. Anyway, the box was my problem...your results may vary.

Same deal here, but we were autocrossing on Saturday. The race is on a 4:30 am here, so we record it. We had a power outage at some time during the night. NO RECORDING, and NO RERUN.

Anybody have SPEED TV HD? I was just wondering if the F1 races are in HD.

I don't have it, but I remember someone had it last year. They mentioned something about seeing someone's chest hairs. Or was it beard hairs. One or the other...

No races are in HD anywhere. FOM does not provide HD feeds. Speed HD shows the races in upconverted widescreen.

Speed HD is only slightly better than "regular" Speed on F1 races. Disappointing that FOM can't buy some new cameras with their millions. Lots of other stuff on Speed is HD though - everything is better in HD.

Also - that race was actually kind of boring. Maybe because I was so tired I slept through a lot of it, but the only surprising things were the shuffle at the start and the BMW's finishing so horribly.

FOM actually has HD equipment and tapes the races in HD, but they don't provide the HD feeds to anyone. No doubt Bernie has a plan to extract more money from television for that to happen. F1: onwards and backwards.

He's got to make up all that money he lost. He's dropped to the 24th richest Briton, with something like $1.4Bil.

Obscene. Actually, it's worse than that--3.4 billion POUNDS, about 4.97286 billion in U.S. dollars.

Well, McLaren got a hand-slap after they apologized and promised never to lie again.

How nice.

Now any team can lie as long as they say they're sorry, and get away with it. Nice precedent.

Seeing that they received so many BS penalties before I don't see a problem with this "hand-slap" at all.

And Ferrari has done things just as egregious without penalty.

Not really. They did get excluded from the Aussie GP, which cost them 5 championship points for Hamilton. That could end up being very significant if Lewis ends up a contender this season.

Disqualification from a race, the loss of a key team member, the loss of your former team principle - and even more humiliation - I think that was plenty. Besides, they left the door open to impose the suspension if Lewis or anyone else looks sideways at Bernie the rest of the season.

Max, actually. Bernie doesn't really want sanctions because it's bad for business.

I don't blame McLaren at all in this case. it should not have even gone so far. Lewis did not pass Truli during the safety car period. Truli spun out. Big difference.
