I checked today and was surprised to learn that the MINI cooper was rated H stock and the "S" was rated G stock. I'm use to racing a Miata in C stock. I thought for sure the MINI would out handle cars in C stock.

What do other owners think? Should they bump us higher? Or does the MINI Cooper reallly handle the same as a Ford Festiva and RWD pickup trucks!!!

This has to be a mistake!

Bad deal.... Both MINI's are correctly classed now. Neither car can compete with a Miata on an autox course (or an S2000, Integra Type R, etc.). Too much weight and no LSD. The Cooper competition is the 96 BMW 318I, 89 Civic Si and the Focus. The S competes with the 02/03 Celica GT and Audi A4. Those are tough enough to beat.

I'm lost on why MINI did not include the LSD on at least the "S" model. Does anyone know why it's not part of the "S" model? LSD is standard on most cars if you buy the sport package.

All I read about the MINI is how wonderful it corners. I was pretty disapointed to find it listed as H stock.

DSC compensates for no LSD under most circumstances, unfortunately auto-x is beyond most circumsatnaces. You will get no wheelspin out of a corner but no power either.

The classing is not about handling, the Cooper has awesome handling, it's about power to weight ratio. The Cooper weighs a lot and doesn't have much power.

All of us Cooper drivers are having a great time driving in H Stock.

I wouldn't be too dissapointed about the classing. Consider yourself lucky to be driving a car that is competively classed. Just think of it this way, you could be driving a Cooper "Works" car in ASP!!!! Sounds sexy but I'll guarentee you they're in for a asssss whooping.

The fastest car we have in our local is an ACR Neon in g stock. I'm getting womped every month! This past month the pavement was hot and the tires went away, and I mean completely away in the afternoon. I hate the run flats!!

The Cooper S is competitive with the Neon ACR. Wins go back and forth for me in the mini and him in the neon. What is bad is that we drive each others car faster than we our own.

Are you on runflats or race tires? What about the ACR? The ACR in our local is on hoosiers and is gd fast. He's fast anyway, but I'm so far behind it isn't funny

We both run race tires. I have run against him on the Good year RSA's against his Falkens Azenis a couple of times in the rain. The Azenis are definitely a better tire and thus he can beat me in the rain. I will have Azenis next spring. The hardest lesson I had to learn was to let the car rotate. With the right tire pressure, you can make the car turn so much easier. I think that is the lesson that helped me the most. It did, and still does on occasion, mean spinning a lot until I figured it out. This is my first year, but I have had a lot of help. Ride with some other people with similar cars if you can. It does help also.

I definately have no problems running in G-Stock on Azenis. The MINIs have been the cars to beat in HS & GS this year.

The classification to complain about is the MCS Works being in ASP...
