Looking into 2011 JCW.

Hey so thing of moving up from an R50. I have my eye on a 2011 JCW with 77000KM (~47800 miles). $19000 CAD will be the price. So the warranty is basically over. While I don't have the service history just yet, will be sent soon, is the vehicle worth buying or should I pass?

You will have less dependability. If you want a project car, go for it. Otherwise look for an '05-'06 JCW R53. Or if you want the R56 body style, I'd go for a '13 JCW since it has the updated N18 engine.

Yeah this would be a daily driver logging maybe 12000km/year.

12000km isn't too much at all. But, these N14's are known for their 'unreliability'. so as long as you're ready for possible repairs, and are attentive and catch things before they're really bad, you should be fine. It'll also help if you're savy with wrenches, it'll save you a lot of money.

You can do some DIY to help with keeping costs down on repairs/maintenance. We have a great amount of DIY tech articles here and adding more as we have our own R56 JCW in house right now.

How about a 2013 with N18 engine?
