Thanks. Yeah that's the location for the body color code. But I need the code for the red for the JCW accessories like the red calipers or mirror caps.

Thanks again.

Question still stands if anybody knows.

Chili Red is 851, and I believe that JCW Red is Chili Red.
If not, here's a link to all the MINI colors. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I was looking at the colors and chili red does look close. I'll have to maybe get a touch up stick and test it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Think JCW red is a hair more dark then Chili red.

MINI's JCW booklet calls the roof and mirror colors "chili red."
The roof/mirrors on our R60 JCW are definitely Chili Red.
So, chili red, then.

One thing to consider, red is fastest to shift color/fade in sunlight so depending on how long for yours there could be a difference.

Yeah. I think so to but luckily what I planed on painting wasn't going too be near anything JCW red so I just may get away with it. Going to pick up the touch up tomorrow and try it out. I'll let everyone know how close it is.

Ps. Just got my first delivery of parts from ECS. Great service. lol. Thanks. I have a long list of things to do/buy.

Regards

Thanks, I was just looking at the JCW 4 piston brake kit against the body of a Chili Red JCW. Think body to body, like paint to stripes and mirrors are mostly match,. the JCW calipers to body paint and roof. The JCW calipers look a bit darker. But I would say its close.

Thanks again for the order.

We are glad to help.

Red .. any Red is a very hard color to match. There are dependencies that affect the color outcome, such as the color of primer and base coat. e.g., if you are covering a black part with red, will be much darker than covering a yellow part.

Also I have noticed that on the Gen1s the trim Chili Red is slightly different then the body paint, e.g., the mirror caps, hood scoop.

My recommendation is to try to prepare all the parts you want to paint identically (use of a good quality primer, say ... Grey. Then paint all the parts at the same time. This may include parts that are already red.

PS: brake calipers need a high temp paint, sometimes because of the different paint properties the color can be listed the same code but is a slightly different hue.

Motor on!

I have a midnite black (MINI code A94) with chili red dash etc and when I want to do some red accents I can go to the auto body supply and have them mix a custom base/clearcoat in 2 aerosol cans for about 50 bux or I can go to walmart and pick up a can of krylon # 82328 safety red/red pepper for about 5 bux. Unless you're going to pebble beach I'll bet no one can tell the difference. Been there - done that & have the red stains on my trigger finger.

It's a little darker than Chili red. Some people use it and then put a hint of black in the paint and mix it in a cup. You could try mixing it in a cup then painting with a touch up pen brush.

this site says 2015 JCW red roof is Chili Red 851

http://paintref.com/paintref/index.shtml

you can order rattle cans from

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/tou...hn-coop-works/

I've ordered from these guys many times with excellent color results but as mentioned you can get variation depending on what color you paint over .... a grey primer is a neutral base. Note too that this is a base/clear system so the color won't be 'right' until the clear has been applied.

I have the JCW red calipers (brembo fronts) on the Chili Red R58 JCW and the calipers are a hair darker. Roof might be a different story.

the reference I point to mentions the roof

I'm SURE brake paint is different .... 100% sure ..... and good luck finding brake aka HIGH TEMP paint by code ...... this stuff is either generic or manufacturer specific.

Does Brembo sell t/up paint? Or are they powder coated ...... hmmmmmmm

Just use bright red paint from Home Depot. Seriously. Nobody will tell on your brakes that you touched them up. Or mask them off and repaint them. Takes like 15 min. Your wheels cover them so who's checking between spokes? I'm **** about my car but touchup my Brembos with the exact red color? hahaha better things to do. Wish I could unsub from this thread. To get recent alerts on this ridiculous subject is driving me crazy.

hahaha

Yea I've got better thing to do than read useless comments such as this one. But since I'm a nice guy, I'll help solve your issue so you can move one from "this ridiculous subject".

When you click on User CP at the top of the page, there's a listing of "new subscribed threads". Under each one, in blue, is a link to unsubscribe. Click it, and all your complaining will go away.

Or if the thread isn't in the "new subscribed threads" section, there's a link to click called "all subscription threads". Click it, and it'll show a listing of everything you're subscribed to. There's a check box on the far right side, you can check it for each thread you want to change, then at the bottom of the page is a drop down box, which has options to delete the subscription or to update the frequency that you're notified of updates, including an option for no email notification.

This is a section for JCW 2nd gen owners. Maybe trade up . . . or get a hobby.
