If you leave your doors open for a long time the projector burns thru the film.

True just like any slide or film it will burn eventually. I made some custom flag ones for my car about 2 years after my first set.
I just printed on a clear transparency, the kind of stuff for a overhead projector and cut the circle the same size to fit the light.
