The N18 wastegate clatter described by the service bulletin typically subsides after ~45 seconds. If your noise is persisting longer than a minute or two, it's likely the problem is something more onerous.
That's what I'm confused about. My 2012 doesn't have a n18 engine to begin with so how am I having the noise
Yup, mine sounds exactly like that. It goes away within a minute, and certainly before the engine gets fully warm.
It used to bug me, but the car runs great, and my oil hasn't had any issues, so I just got over it. Funny, 911 engines sometimes sound like a hundred bolts being shaken around in a can during startup. Not harmonic at all.
Yea the noise does go away. I guess I'll leave it be for now. Like you said if something's wrong it will break and I have 50k warranty so no need to stress over it.
Mine does this too. That's the diesel-y knocking sound I was trying to briefly describe above. My 1st gen had a similar sound as well when cold. Nothing to worry about, I don't think.
