Aftermarket exhaust options

Hey guys and gals,

I have been looking around a bit and havent found much for aftermarket exhausts for our cars. Are there options specific to the factory JCW cars?

Mainly I would like to hear the exhaust more, right now it's just too quiet!

Are there power gains to be had in cat-back replacement?

Thanks for any replies

There are a LOT of options...Alta, NM, Invidia, Magnaflow, Borla, etc. They're not specific to JCW, but any of the regular S exhaust will fit. If you just want it louder, a lot of people remove the resonator. Costs $50 bucks and makes the exhaust louder ;-)

This is what I have seen as well. I know the power difference between a JCW and a standard S isn't huge, but it still makes me a little nervous to use an exhaust that was designed for a car with less power.

I'm sure I could be wrong about this and maybe the S exhausts work fine, but I was a little surprised at the lack of options specific to a factory JCW.

You have to remember that an S that bolts on a JCW factory exhaust won't really see any performance gain........they're pretty close to being the same. But most all aftermarket exhausts are an improvement over the factory in terms of "performance". There really isn't anything special you could do for a JCW versus an S.....all they really do is provide larger diameter pipes and more free-flowing mufflers/cats.

So I want to remove the resonator from my exhaust but I am not sure what to expect. How much louder? Raspy? Too aggressive?

I have a custom 2.5" with 16" resonator and with a Magna Flow muffler. Has a great sound but I wish it was a little more aggressive at idle and during acceleration.

Anyone done this and regretted it? I am okay with a louder exhaust but I do not want a obnoxious one.
